At Le Verdus estate, at the northern end of the Marcillac appellation, on the heights of Conques-en-Rouergue, Aline SOLIGNAC and Philippe ROUSSEAU have been gradually taking over part of the family farm since 2014.
In the shale and sandstone hillsides, where vines once thrived, Philippe replanted a 3-hectare human-sized vineyard to produce wines made using artisanal and natural methods. This unique terroir compared to the rest of the Marcillac appellation allows the three emblematic grape varieties of the estate: mansois, chenin and roussellou, to express themselves in a particular way.
A little further down, on the sandy scree, Aline plants 1.5 hectares of green asparagus and thus relaunches traditional production emblematic of the village. Around the vines and asparagus groves, natural meadows welcome herds of cows and draft horses.
At Le Verdus estate, on the south-facing shale and sandstone hillsides, Aline Solignac and Philippe Rousseau produce organic white, red and rosé wines in AOC Marcillac and Pays de l’Aveyron.
