It was in 1998 that the Ledogar family decided to leave the cooperative to produce their own wines in Boutenac, one of the finest terroirs in the Corbières region.
Today, the three brothers—Xavier, Mathieu and Benoit—produce authentic, refined, approachable, expressive and easy-drinking wines. They practise organic and biodynamic viticulture, employing minimalist winemaking techniques with very little sulphur.
For Xavier Lédogar, heir to a long family tradition in Ferrals-les-Corbières, his meeting with Didier Barral in 2002 proved to be a turning point. He opted for a method of working the soil without the use of fertilisers or weedkillers. He was later joined by his brothers Mathieu and Benoît, and the three now form a complementary team.
The Ledogar estate has been certified organic since 2009 and biodynamic (Biodyvin) since 2022.
The estate’s 22 hectares consist mainly of Carignan (two-thirds), along with white and grey Grenache. The vines range in age from 60 to 120 years.
The soil consists mainly of clay and limestone mixed with rounded pebbles and red sandstone. These relatively infertile soils of Corbières-Boutenac are particularly conducive to bringing out the aromatic qualities of old Carignan vines.
