Description
Benjamin Taillandier’s Tharséo cuvée (meaning ‘boldness’ in ancient Greek) is a blend of Muscat d’Alexandrie (50%) and Terret gris (50%). Macerated for 3 weeks, aged for 6 months in amphorae. An ultra-aromatic, rich, fresh and light wine that is incredibly appetising despite its low 10.5% alcohol content… Enjoy it on its own, or with a handful of green asparagus in season: pure bliss!
In the vineyard, in the cellar
Benjamin Taillandier’s Tharséo cuvée is a blend of Muscat d’Alexandrie (50%) and Terret gris (50%) grown on clay-limestone soil. Destemmed harvest, indigenous yeasts and lactic bacteria, 20 days’ fermentation, aged for 6 months in amphorae.
Starting from scratch, with nothing but his courage and convictions, Benjamin Taillandier aims to produce wines ‘the old-fashioned way’ and sees no alternative to organic farming (AB-certified since the 2011 vintage). His estate now covers 13 hectares spread across no fewer than 21 plots. He is committed to creating personal, artisanal wines and offers an alternative vision of the winemaker’s craft. His aim is to minimise human intervention as much as possible, both in terms of cultivation and winemaking. Alongside his friend and mentor Jean-Baptiste Sénat, he is a member of the winemakers’ collective ‘Changer l’Aude en Vin’.
