"The 1986 vintage of Château le Puy’s Emilien cuvée stands out today with lovely orange highlights that complement a colour that remains a deep garnet. The nose is a delight, offering aromas of wild berries, nutmeg, tobacco, scents of the forest floor and earthy notes. The palate is round, rich and velvety, with superb, almost melted tannins. The finish is deep and long, full-bodied and smooth. A fine signature for this great vintage."

Description

The 1986 vintage of Château le Puy’s Emilien cuvée stands out today with lovely orange highlights that complement a colour that remains a deep garnet. The nose is a delight, offering aromas of wild berries, nutmeg, Havana tobacco, scents of the forest floor and rustic earth. On the palate, it is round, rich and velvety, with superb, almost fully integrated tannins. The finish is deep and long, full-bodied and smooth. A fine signature for this great vintage.

The spirit of the Emilien cuvée

Its colour is garnet, tending towards ruby in the younger vintages, with orange highlights in the older ones and onion skin in the very old vintages. The nose reveals aromas of very ripe red fruits, dominated by blackcurrant, redcurrant, toasted almonds and, at times, mushrooms and undergrowth. The palate is round, full and delicate with velvety tannins and a long, pleasantly complex finish. Émilien is a wine of great finesse and can be enjoyed young, thanks to its velvety tannins, or aged to fully appreciate the depth of its terroir. This wine has great ageing potential. Émilien is the natural accompaniment to family recipes as well as the most delicate dishes.

In the vineyard, in the cellar

This unfiltered wine is made from vines planted with 85% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec and 1% Carménère. Emilien is produced by ageing in casks and seasoned barrels for 24 months.
