Description
Take out the tablecloth, some chorizo cream or a ceviche as tapas, and a bottle of Piknik from Château Castigno to bring to the whole a moment of simple, joyful and convivial pleasure. The wine first shines by its remarkable aromatic generosity. White and yellow fruits (peach, nectarine, apricot), a hint of citrus and some particularly elegant floral notes. The mouth, fleshy and salivating, aligns with this joyful tone with a nice saline tension and beautiful bitters on the finish.
Method of working
The Piknik wine from Château Castigno in details:
- Grape varieties: 70% Grenache blanc, Grenache Gris and Carignan blanc – 30% Clairette, Marsanne and Roussanne
- Cultivation: organic (certified) and biodynamic (Demeter certified).
- Harvest: manual in the morning. A big walk through the vines is done every day for optimal ripeness (seeking freshness). The grapes are placed in racks in the cold
- Vinification: Destemming and direct pressing. Infusion of juices and skins to bring bitterness and texture. Settling in tanks, temperature control, gentle winemaking with indigenous yeasts
- Aging: in tanks to preserve the vivacity of the fruit
