Description
First produced in 2010, the Cap Nord cuvée from the Laurent Combier estate is a benchmark wine in the northern part of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation. It is a single-vineyard selection from vines situated on exceptional granite soil, among the finest in the northern part of the appellation. Cap Nord is a striking blend of complexity, depth, freshness and finesse. Ripe black fruits mingle with intense notes of pepper and violet. The palate, full-bodied and rich, benefits from lovely mineral tension and impeccable balance. Consequently, although the wine clearly has ageing potential of a good ten years, it is perfectly approachable and deliciously harmonious right now. After a little aeration, it will be at its best alongside a slow-cooked beef chuck or game in a sauce.
