Description
Domaine Vindiou’s Le Cœur Fidèle pays homage to the Dureza grape variety – a nearly extinct variety and the forefather of Syrah, native to the northern Côtes du Rhône. Its fruitiness encompasses a range of red fruits (arbutus, wild strawberry, pomegranate) with spicy notes (Sichuan pepper, paprika). Very low in alcohol (barely 10.5%), it is an extremely easy-drinking wine with lovely acidity. Fresh, invigorating, mouth-watering and flattering, it simply calls for local dishes (Ardèche charcuterie and cheeses) to express itself fully.

The Dureza grape variety
The Dureza grape variety is virtually unknown outside the northern Côtes du Rhône, where it originates. It is believed to be the progenitor of Syrah, a cross with Mondeuse Blanche. Dureza bunches are medium-sized and compact. The berries are also medium-sized, with a simple flavour, a thin to medium-thick skin and not very juicy flesh. This grape variety produces fairly colourful wines, relatively acidic and with spicy aromas. (sources: lescepages.fr and PLantGrape)
