Description
Grand Blanc immediately reveals its origins through aromas of fennel, thyme, candied lemon and the garrigue of the Alpilles. This blend of five grape varieties (Grenache Blanc, Rolle, Roussanne, Chardonnay and Muscat Petit Grains) offers magnificent vitality and a distinctly southern character. A firmness and refinement that are reminiscent of its grander cousins from Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
In the vineyard, in the cellar
Domaine Milan’s Grand Blanc is a blend of five grape varieties: Grenache Blanc, Rolle, Roussanne, Chardonnay and Muscat Petit Grains. The 2.4 hectares of vines, planted between 1991 and 1993 at a density of 4,000 vines per hectare, grow on a terroir of loamy clay with a subsoil of blue marl. All grape varieties are blended at harvest. Fermentation takes place without sulphites in cement vats using exclusively indigenous yeasts. Yield: 40 hl/ha
The estate
Domaine Milan stands apart in the wine world: an OVNI (Unidentified Winemaker Origin). For Henri, who established the estate’s reputation, winemaking is not a matter of technique. It is more a matter of naturally supporting what the vines offer, through organic and biodynamic methods. His son Théophile now continues the adventure, preserving the estate’s style and sensibility. The result is original and complex wines, each reflecting its terroir. A harmony whose finesse and texture often evoke Burgundy… but in Provence.
