Description
Avalanche de Printemps is a Fleurie from Marc Delienne, specially crafted for early release. A little gem of suppleness and elegance! The fruitiness evokes wild raspberries with hints of blood orange, all enhanced by subtle peppery notes. The texture is silky, and the wine displays remarkable vigour from start to finish.
In the vineyard, in the cellar
Located in the south-east of the Fleurie vineyard, the terroir consists mainly of sandy or sandy-loam soils. Derived from primary rock (granite) or ancient alluvial deposits, the soil is sometimes very stony on the surface and of shallow to medium depth. Aged between 40 and over 80 years, the Gamay Noir vines are planted at a density of around 10,000 vines per hectare. Goblet pruning. High-cane training. Soil preparation. Hand-harvested into small crates, sorted in the cellar. Whole-bunch maceration in temperature-controlled concrete vats. No yeast addition or chaptalisation. No punching down, light daily pumping over. Short vatting period (8 days). Matured in concrete vats immediately after pressing.
Terre de Vins: a favourite of ours – Marc Delienne
A favourite of ours is Marc Delienne, particularly for his ‘Avalanche de printemps’ cuvée, but also ‘Abbaye Road’ and his lighter ‘Greta Carbo’ […] they are truly captivating. The explosive red fruit notes of the three cuvées give these wines a structure slightly different from other Fleurie wines, in that they are built on a lighter framework, with aromas finely crafted around the fruit, notably redcurrant and blackcurrant bud, which are more expressive, except for Abbaye Road, whose expressive floral aromas stand out, in the best sense of the word. […] Marc Delienne has dedicated himself to wine, prioritising organic viticulture and natural winemaking in the cellar.
