Description
Olivier Pithon’s Mon Ptit Pithon Rouge proves to be an incredibly indulgent and easy-drinking wine. A master of approachable wines, this winemaker embodies the spirit of conviviality and the simple pleasures of life. Mon P’tit Pithon offers notes of black fruit, hints of violet and a touch of spice: a bold fruitiness on a round, full-bodied palate. It surprises with its freshness and moderate power. Add to that impeccable value for money, and you have no reason to hesitate.
In the vineyard, in the cellar
Olivier Pithon Mon P’tit Pithon red is a blend of Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre and Syrah. A mosaic of terroirs. Hand-harvested, traditionally vinified. Aged in concrete vats. A cuvée produced in partnership with half a dozen organic or conversion-stage winegrowers from neighbouring villages.
La Revue du Vin de France
In less than ten years, this winemaker from Anjou, brother of the famous Jo Pithon of the Coteaux du Layon, has established himself among the leading estates of the Roussillon. Olivier Pithon practises committed viticulture, showing great respect for the terroirs and indigenous grape varieties. He has now established a highly personal style, producing authentic, straightforward wines that improve year on year, with the entry-level wines now showing greater precision and consistency. The consistency, frank expression and intensity of flavour of the wines emerging from the new cellar, high above Calce, have earned the estate a second star in short order, a distinction brilliantly confirmed again this year.
