Rouges-Queues
Maranges
En Buliet 2023

"It was with this vineyard that the Domaine des Rouges-Queues was established in 1998. The Maranges En Buliet is a well-rounded wine. The nose, rich and complex, reveals notes of black fruit (blackberry and blackcurrant) followed by red fruit (Gariguette strawberry). It displays depth with subtle hints of cocoa. The attack on the palate is broad, dense, rich and full-bodied, with silky, ample tannins. The mid-palate is full and round, revealing notes of ripe fruit. The finish is fresh, focusing on very ripe black fruit before fading into notes of liquorice. A very lovely wine, offering great complexity and a rich, indulgent pleasure."

In the vineyard, in the cellar

The Maranges en Buliet from Domaine des Rouges-Queues is made from 100% Pinot Noir. The soils are clayey with pebbles from the Dheune Valley dating back to the Early Pleistocene. The plot faces south-southeast. The first planting took place in 1934. Hand-harvested. The grapes are pressed, then the juice is left in vats for 12 hours to settle. Fermentation takes place in vats. The wine is then aged for around 10 months.

The estate

Isabelle and Jean-Yves Vantey established their Domaine des Rouges Queues in 1998 in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune. They cultivate around 6 hectares around the small village of Sampigny-Les-Maranges. Their philosophy is to allow the Maranges terroir to express itself through authentic wines. To achieve this, they practise certified organic and biodynamic viticulture, alongside gentle, natural winemaking methods that respect the work done in the vineyards.
