Description
The Château de Coulaine La Diablesse Chinon boasts a luminous, deep ruby-red colour. On the nose, the aromatic depth unfolds with aeration, revealing notes of red and black fruit. The palate is a constant paradox: structured yet silky, sunny yet mineral. A very pronounced fruit character. Already ready to drink, this is a wine that is sure to surprise you over the next ten years.
In the vineyard, in the cellar
The Château de Coulaine La Diablesse Chinon cuvée in detail:
- Terroir: A 0.80-hectare plot selection located in the Picasses terroir, facing north. This 100% pure clay-limestone terroir allows for the perfect varietal expression of Cabernet Franc, with excellent ripeness. It also maintains a typical freshness, despite the richness provided by the quality of the terroir.
- Grape variety: 100% Cabernet Franc, old vines aged between 50 and 110 years.
- Harvest: hand-picked
- Vinification: traditional: indigenous yeasts, no chaptalisation, slow malolactic fermentation in barrels following alcoholic fermentation in concrete vats. The wine is neither fined nor filtered, and is very lightly sulphited during ageing if necessary.
- Ageing: 1 year in 400-litre oak barrels (previously used for 3 or 4 wines) with 15% new oak. Then aged in bulk until bottling.
