Stéphane Ogier
Côte-Rôtie
Lancement 2017

350.00

"Stéphane Ogier’s Côte-Rôtie Lancement comes from a small, south-facing one-hectare plot planted in 1977. The soil here is granitic, a characteristic feature of the Côte Blonde. The Syrah grapes used in this wine were fully destemmed before undergoing cold pre-fermentation maceration, punching down, pumping over during alcoholic fermentation, and then post-fermentation maceration. The yeasts are indigenous. The wine is aged for a long time: 20 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new. The complexity and aromatic finesse are sublime: black fruits, smoky and spicy notes, precious wood, a floral touch… The palate, full-bodied and velvety, embodies the spirit and respect for a ‘blonde’ terroir, all subtlety and voluptuousness. A delicate cuvée that will stand the test of time for 20–25 years."

The estate

It was in 1997 that Stéphane Ogier joined the family estate, which has been rooted in the hillsides of Ampuis for seven generations. Upon taking over from his father Michel, he chose to work meticulously on his various terroirs in order to reveal the unique character of these places steeped in history.

Over the years, the estate has expanded beyond the village boundaries, driven by a desire to discover and enhance new terroirs. From his experience in Burgundy, Stéphane Ogier retains a taste for elegance and finesse, which has become a hallmark of his wines. Each year, the winemaker takes care to vinify the plots separately, to bring out the best of their potential. The blends are adjusted according to the vintages, each telling its own story about his wines.
