Description
Antoine Sunier’s Morgon is a savoury, refined wine that exudes a deep fruitiness of dark stone fruits, primarily Burlat cherries, with hints of peony. The wine, full-bodied and silky, delicately fills the palate. It embodies all the drinkability and fluidity of Antoine Sunier’s wines. Ideal for surrendering to indulgence and pleasure.
In the vineyard, in the cellar
Antoine Sunier’s Morgon comes from a 1.22-hectare plot of white-juice Gamay Noir currently in the process of converting to organic farming. The average age of the vines is 60 years. They come from the lieux-dits known as Croix de Chèvre and Grands Crats, south-facing at an altitude of 270 metres. The soil consists of stony ground formed from ancient alluvial deposits.
After being transferred to vats by gravity, vinification takes place using indigenous yeasts, without additives, via carbonic maceration for 10–12 days. This is followed by manual devatting and very gentle horizontal pressing by hand over the course of a day. Ageing is balanced between barrels and vats:
- 70% in Burgundy barrels (8 years old) for 7 months on fine lees without additives
- 30% in epoxy-lined concrete vats for 7 months on fine lees without additives
Blended for one month, lightly sulphited before bottling; unfiltered and unfined.
