Château Le Puy
Emilien
2021

71.00

"The 2021 vintage of Château le Puy’s Emilien cuvée is no exception to the estate’s hallmark of elegance and balance. There are notes of red and black fruits (blackcurrant, redcurrant) that have been gently extracted, giving the wine an infusion-like character. On the palate, it is round, with velvety tannins and refined extraction. The flavour is pronounced, the character delicious and precise. This is a brilliant vintage that will gain in complexity with a few years in the cellar."

Description

The 2021 vintage of Château le Puy’s Emilien cuvée is no exception to the estate’s hallmark of elegance and balance. There are notes of red and black fruits (blackcurrant, redcurrant) that have been gently extracted, evoking the essence of an infusion. The palate is round, with velvety tannins and refined extraction. The flavour is striking, the character delicious and precise. This is a brilliant vintage that will gain in complexity with a few years in the cellar.

The spirit of the Emilien cuvée

Its colour is garnet, tending towards ruby in the younger vintages, with orange highlights in the older ones and onion skin in the very old vintages. The nose reveals aromas of very ripe red fruits, dominated by blackcurrant, redcurrant, toasted almonds and, at times, mushrooms and undergrowth. The palate is round, full-bodied and delicate, with velvety tannins and a long, pleasantly complex finish. Émilien is a wine of great finesse and can be enjoyed young, thanks to its velvety tannins, or aged to fully appreciate the depth of its terroir. This wine has great ageing potential. Émilien is the natural accompaniment to family recipes as well as the most delicate dishes.

In the vineyard, in the cellar

This unfiltered wine is made from vines planted with 85% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec and 1% Carménère. Emilien is produced by ageing in casks and seasoned barrels for 24 months.
