Description
This 100% Savagnin Côtes du Jura from Domaine Sainte Marie offers the perfect introduction to oxidative Jura wines. The wine is completely free of any hint of acetone, which can sometimes put off the novice. On the contrary, the alluring nose evokes candied citrus, curry and toasted nuts. The power is perfectly contained by an airy structure and a caressing texture. The delicacy of the finish is simply sublime and lingers with lovely dynamism. A guaranteed treat, whether enjoyed on its own or paired with chicken breast in satay sauce.
In the vineyard, in the cellar
Terroirs of Les Normois and Arlay, south-facing, sheltered slopes and terraces above the Seille. A thin layer of clay-limestone soil over exposed blue marl, with fossils of belemnites and encrine roots. The Savagnin grape produces berries with thick skins and very acidic juice. The Savagnin grape variety, used on its own, is vinified as a Vin Jaune for three years.
