Description
This Côtes du Jura from Emilie Gérard’s Domaine du Pont de Breux is indeed a Savagnin made using the ‘ouillé’ method (non-oxidative). One appreciates the aromatic complexity, the power and the incomparable minerality of this iconic Jura grape variety. The wine boasts a deep, luminous golden colour. The nose is breathtaking in its complexity and depth: candied lemon, exotic fruits, chamomile, sweet spices… On the palate, it has a slightly oily texture, with a hint of reduction that lends the wine an extra touch of character. The power and mineral tension engage in a harmonious tug-of-war which, combined with the wine’s few years of ageing, gives the whole a considerable gastronomic dimension. Lobster in curry sauce, a morel mushroom sauce, farfalle with porcini mushrooms, well-matured Jura cheeses… the range is vast and the tasting pleasure unique.
