Description
Claude Courtois is one of the pioneers of organic (and later biodynamic) viticulture and natural wine in Sologne. Etienne, the eldest son of this somewhat unconventional family of wine-growing farmers, has taken over the 13-hectare estate and is continuing along the path laid out by his father.
In the vineyard, in the cellar
Racine is THE signature cuvée of Les Cailloux du Paradis, a blend of all the estate’s grape varieties (Gamay, Côt, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Gascon Noir, etc.), fermented and vinified together.
The vines grow in flinty clay soil and are cultivated with as little intervention as possible; treatments are based on nettle, horsetail, sulphur powder and minute doses of Bordeaux mixture. Aged for 30 months in used barrels. Neither fined nor filtered, with no added sulphites.
