Description
Les Champs de l'Abbaye, with the Marcoeurs, produces an exceptional Mercurey, worthy of a Premier Cru. Brilliant, deep and intense, it combines the power and purity of great wines. An intense nose with aromas of raspberry, a hint of spice and a touch of blood orange. On the palate, this is a complete wine, characterised by its depth of fruit, balance, purity and remarkable length.
In the vineyard, in the cellar
Organically farmed since 1999, Alain also applies some biodynamic principles, without certification, as an independent and determined winemaker. No magic formula, then, but relentless, uncompromising work, attuned to the soil. In the cellar too, respect for the juice takes precedence.
The Mercurey Les Marcoeurs des Champs de l'Abbaye comes from a limestone terroir with shell fragments and red, iron-rich soil. East-southeast exposure. A plot situated beneath the 1er cru, the Clos des Miglands. Total area: 0.78 ha – Age: 25 and 45 years – Yield: 30 hl/ha. 50% destemming – Natural yeasts – Cold pre-fermentation with bio-protection. Sulphur-free vinification. Aged 50% in barrels, 50% in vats.
