Description
Fabien Jouves’ La Roque cuvée (Mas del Périé) stands out for its simplicity and a delightfully rich character, unusual for a Cahors. There is no harsh tannic bite here, but rather finesse and spontaneity in this Malbec grown on Miocene brown marl soils. The nose evokes the undergrowth, with a floral hint and a touch of truffle. On the palate, it is round, straightforward, savoury, refined and balanced. A delicate tension preserves the freshness throughout the tasting. So there’s no need to wait, especially if you have lamb chops (to grill) or veal (in a casserole).

Fabien Jouves’ Mas del Périé estate
comes from an old farming family in the Causse region. He became a winemaker in 2006 by establishing Mas del Périé on the highest slopes of Cahors. Malbec (Cot) is the dominant grape variety here. The estate is situated at the junction of the terroirs of the Quercy hillsides and those of Cahors. Selecting specific plots was the obvious choice to express the different facets of Malbec. This expression of the terroir is enhanced by biodynamic farming that respects life and the plant. As well as people and their environment.
