Description
The Domaine des Rouges-Queues Hautes-Côtes de Beaune white is an aromatic delight that offers plenty of freshness. It has a bright, luminous colour. The nose reveals aromas of fresh hazelnuts, lime blossom, honeysuckle and acacia against a subtle citrus backdrop. Immediately full-bodied, supple and round, the palate becomes more defined as the wine is savoured, offering a more mineral finish.
In the vineyard, in the cellar
The Hautes-Côtes de Beaune from Domaine des Rouges-Queues is made from 100% 50-year-old Chardonnay vines. The terroir consists of clay-limestone and sandy soil on a steep slope, on the edge of woodland, facing east. Hand-harvested. The grapes are pressed, then the juice is left in vats for 12 hours to settle. Fermentation takes place in vats. The wine is then aged for around 10 months.
The estate
Isabelle and Jean-Yves Vantey established their Rouges Queues estate in 1998 in the south of the Côte de Beaune. They cultivate around 6 hectares around the small village of Sampigny-Les-Maranges. Their philosophy is to allow the Maranges terroir to express itself through authentic wines. To achieve this, they practise certified organic and biodynamic viticulture, alongside gentle, natural winemaking methods that respect the work done in the vineyards.
