The Camparo estate is a small vineyard in Piedmont (Diano d’Alba) founded by Mauro Drocco in the early 1980s. The 8 hectares have been farmed organically since 2000 and are spread across some of the finest terroirs in Barolo and the surrounding area.
Camparo is much more than just a vineyard; it is a family story and a deep commitment to sustainable viticulture. Respect for nature, biodiversity and sustainable development are values deeply rooted in the Drocco family’s philosophy.
Mauro Drocco founded the Camparo estate in 1980, starting with a few vines bequeathed to him by his father. From the very beginning, he placed great emphasis on environmental sustainability.
He took a major step forward in 1995 by acquiring a Nebbiolo da Barolo vineyard in the municipality of Grinzane Cavour. Five years later, he converted the entire estate to organic farming.
Organic farming would be nothing without soil regeneration, which restores fertility and biodiversity. That is why the Drocco family sows green manure crops, varying them from year to year and from one row to the next. They also plant fruit trees around the vineyard. The grass is mown mechanically.
The Camparo estate uses the gentle Guyot pruning method, with targeted interventions carried out vine by vine. This is done to preserve the health of the vines and ensure their balanced, gradual development.
The plant is treated exclusively with plant-based products, such as essential oils, as well as copper and sulphur.
