Description
The Gaillac Anthocyanes from Domaine de Brin is a charming, lively, juicy and flavourful wine. Initial aromas of wild strawberries blend with the graphite notes of the Braucol and the spicy notes of the Syrah. A pure delight, very crisp on a light structure that ensures the wine is easy to drink.
In the vineyard
- 70% Braucol and 30% Syrah
- Clay-limestone soil, south-facing, altitude 290m
- Natural grass cover and sowing of green manure between the rows during the winter, with shallow tillage before the summer heat
- Multiple manual and mechanical operations throughout the year to ensure the grapes are well-aerated, healthy and fully ripe
- Pruning, debudding and suckering according to Poussard principles, respecting the vine’s sap flow
In the cellar
- Manual harvesting of the grapes according to the optimal ripeness of the different grape varieties. To achieve balance (ideal sugar-acidity-solids ratio)
- Stems are removed so that only the grape berries are vinified
- Spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts
- Maceration by simple infusion with minimal pumping over (no manual punching down). Vatting for approximately 10 days. No excessive temperatures during fermentation
- Aged half in concrete vats and half in oak casks for greater roundness and complexity
- Natural clarification without fining
- The wine is aged without sulphur; very low sulphiting is applied before bottling without filtration
