Les Suchots 2018

"Finesse and richness, complexity and harmony: everything comes together to define the fulfilment of this exceptional wine. An iron fist in a velvet glove, it captures the fullness of Pinot Noir with remarkable distinction, revealing a stallion-like vigour before giving way to richness and elegance. Its aromas evolve with age. When young, the wine offers floral notes combined with raspberry, morello cherry and blackcurrant. With time, the aromas evolve and shift towards spices, liquorice, undergrowth and leather."

Description

The nose offers notes of strawberries and flowers. On the palate, it is rich and silky, with firm, velvety tannins. The long finish is fragrant and delicate. With its elegant style, this is a wine of pure refinement.

The terroir

Nestled between Romanée Saint-Vivant, Echezeaux and Richebourg… The vineyard neighbours some of the world’s greatest wines. According to some tasters, Les Suchots clearly ranks among the finest 1er Crus of Vosne-Romanée.

Find out more

  • An exceptional village: with incredible terroirs, the commune of Vosne-Romanée boasts Burgundy’s greatest red wines. Romanée-Conti, Richebourg, Romanée, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, La Tâche, Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux… Names that echo the grandeur of Pinot Noir through wines of extreme elegance.
  • The fleeting impression of austerity in its youth fades, the tannins soften, and the wine rounds out. Maturity brings out its sensuality and pedigree.
  • Carefully timed harvests help preserve the fruit’s freshness. Vinification is meticulous, with pumping over and gentle punching down to highlight the terroir. Ageing lasts an average of 15 months in barrels, with 40 to 45% new oak, followed by 3 months in vats before bottling.

Food and Wine Pairings

A fillet of beef served with a slice of grilled foie gras will bring out the pleasure of this captivating red. One might also consider a seven-hour leg of lamb or a veal shank slow-roasted in the oven. Not to mention game, such as a fillet of venison, for example.
