About the Bourgogne Aligoté appellation
Character of the wines
The Bourgogne Aligoté appellation produces a delicious, young, trendy white wine with a touch of quirkiness. It has a pale golden hue. With perfectly balanced flavours, the bouquet of the Bourgogne Aligoté appellation is fruity (apple, lemon) or floral. On the palate, this lively wine stimulates the taste buds.
Location
The Aligoté grape variety has been known in Burgundy since the 17th century. It thrives there wonderfully. It is grown in Saône-et-Loire, Côte-d’Or and Yonne, reflecting the diversity of these terroirs. This grape variety has held the BOURGOGNE ALIGOTÉ appellation since 1937.
Terroirs
Varied due to the diversity of the wine-growing areas, the vineyards planted with this grape variety generally rest on a limestone base, often mixed with marl and clay. Bourgogne Aligoté is often a hillside wine. A little altitude does it no harm.
