Description
Le P'tit Barriot Blanc from the Le Clot de l'Origine estate is a surprising blanc de noirs (80% Syrah) bursting with energy and flavour. It offers notes of tangy red fruits (strawberry, redcurrant). This is a mineral-driven white wine, with lovely acidity and a hint of salinity on the finish. Perfect with seafood or seafood tapas.

What is a white wine made from black grapes?
Like the P'tit Barriot from Domaine Le Clos de l'Origine, a blanc de noirs is a still white wine made from red grapes. It is not easy to imagine that the white wine in your glass comes from red grape varieties, except that, like the vast majority of varieties, they have white flesh. A very common process for sparkling wines, it is, however, much less common when it comes to still white wines.
One might think that all that is needed is to press red grapes immediately after harvesting, in order to avoid the maceration phase essential for extracting the famous anthocyanins responsible for the red colour. But it is not quite that simple, as this could result in a rosé wine. Several techniques, which in fact demonstrate true expertise, must be employed to successfully produce a white wine from red grapes.
There are therefore very few of these daring winemakers who show such creativity, such as Marc and Caroline Barriot of the Le Clot de l’Origine estate.
