Description
The Claparèdes cuvée from Mas des Mesures perfectly reflects the work and philosophy of its winemaker, Vincent Augé. This natural wine, with its clear, luminous colour, offers a nose of red berries (raspberry, wild strawberry, cherry). On the palate, lively and silky, it offers a refined expression of these aromas on a slender framework. As the bottle is passed round and the sips accumulate, the delicacy remains. A lovely bottle that can be served slightly chilled to complement the finesse of a grilled veal dish.
In the vineyard
The vines are situated at an altitude of between 300 and 400 metres on varied terroirs (schist alluvium, sandstone, clay-limestone). The 3-hectare vineyard comprises Grenache, Syrah, Chardonnay and old goblet-trained vines planted with Carignan, Aramon, etc. This region is somewhat of an enclave subject to a tempered Mediterranean climate due to its geographical location. This is because it is a valley nestled between the foothills (600–800 m) and the Caroux (1,200 m). This location allows for good phenolic ripeness without high alcohol levels. It also yields fresh profiles with good acidity, which is essential for producing sulphur-free wines.
In the cellar
70% Grenache, 30% Syrah, vatted by gravity and mostly destemmed, vinified in stainless steel vats (indigenous yeasts – sulphur-free). Extraction solely by punching down, aged for 8 months in 5-year-old demi-muids without the addition of SO2, either during vinification or bottling.
