Description
Rose is Maxime Magnon’s highly exclusive 100% Cinsault Corbières cuvée. Named after his daughter, it is not produced every year, which further enhances its rarity. Don’t be misled by the grape variety; this is a wine of character, deep, full-bodied and built for ageing. Maxime Magnon’s signature is evident in the wine’s balance and finesse, which oscillates between black fruits and garrigue notes, with lovely, slightly powdery tannins. A truly great wine that will reach its full potential after around ten years. Just a little more patience…
In the vineyard
Maxime Magnon tends his vines in the communes of Villeneuve-les-Corbières, Durban and Cascastel. These magnificent terroirs of the Vallée du Paradis are predominantly clay-limestone and schist. Work is carried out mainly by hand and using a crawler tractor. Strict organic and biodynamic practices are followed: no use of plant protection products. Sheep and cows graze in the vineyards during the winter, just like his illustrious neighbour Didier Barral. This helps to promote microbial life in the soil. It also reduces unnecessary ploughing and limits soil compaction.
In the cellar
Maxime Magnon’s Corbières Rosé is made from 100% Cinsault. The grapes are harvested by hand into small crates. Fermentation takes place with whole bunches at low temperatures, using indigenous yeasts and without sulphur. Vinification then continues in the traditional manner with some punching down. Aged in oak barrels and bottled without fining or filtration. A homeopathic dose of sulphur is added where necessary.
