Guide to the Best Wines of France
The Nicolas Delfaud
estate was established in autumn 2015 when he took on a 4-hectare vineyard lease in Saône-et-Loire, within the Mâcon-Verzé appellation. After working as a sommelier in Paris, he decided in 2009 to settle in the Mâconnais region to study for a BTS in viticulture and oenology at the CFPPA in Mâcon Davayé. From 2010 to 2017, he joined Château des Rontets (an organic estate in Fuissé) as a farm worker whilst beginning to establish his own estate. He then undertook the conversion of all his plots to organic farming. Verzé proved to be an excellent terroir, judging by tastings of his first vintages. Particular mention should be made of the excellent value for money offered by the wines from this young estate.
