Description
Les Vignerons d'Estézargues have produced a white Côtes du Rhône that isn’t quite as gritty as you might expect! … The blend of White Grenache, Viognier and Roussanne yields a wine with a rather appealing aromatic profile: yellow stone fruits, orchard notes, citrus zest and white flowers. On the palate, it is smooth and concentrated, with lovely liveliness and moderate richness. On the finish, pleasant bitter notes contribute to a balance that calls for spicy dishes (tajines, curries) or strong-flavoured cheeses.
In the vineyard, in the cellar
- Grape varieties: White Grenache, Vionnier, Roussanne
- Vinification: blended grape varieties, vinification at low temperature (16°C); slow and gentle pneumatic pressing; light settling
- Ageing: on fine lees for the 6 months prior to bottling.
The winegrowers of Estézargues
There are around ten winegrowers in the Estézargues group, united under a ‘pilot’ cooperative winery, with each winegrower retaining their own production, identity and working methods. Founded in 1965, the winery is situated a stone’s throw from Lirac.
The Vignerons d’Estézargues have committed to responsible viticulture and have been vinifying without additives
for over twenty years, using spontaneous fermentation (indigenous yeasts
), without fining or filtration. The wines beautifully reflect their terroir with varied expressions and exceptional value for money.
