Description
Marc Barriot’s Les Quilles Libres (Le Clot de l’Origine) is a blend of white Grenache and grey Grenache from two plots planted on black schist and clay-limestone soil. It undergoes 60 days of fermentation, followed by ageing on fine lees in three-year-old barrels. An ambitious and precise wine bursting with white-fleshed fruit and citrus, underpinned by lovely minerality and a slight salinity on the finish. It’s hard to find a place for a wine of such tension in the south. After a good aeration, the wine will shine alongside simply grilled premium fish (John Dory, turbot), asparagus or hard cheeses.
