Le Mas du Chêne is a hidden gem of a vineyard situated on the edge of the Camargue, run organically by Luc Vignal and Emmanuelle Delon. By promoting the balance of the land and biodiversity, they produce wines of unrivalled honesty and drinkability. One of our very best value-for-money finds!
Le Mas du Chêne comprises 64 hectares of contiguous land surrounding the estate. It is situated to the south of the Costières de Nîmes appellation area. The vineyard covers 50 hectares. The remaining 14 hectares consist of woodland, olive groves and hedgerows. These contribute to the balance of the landscape and biodiversity, as do the fallow fields. Villafranchian rounded pebbles form the bulk of the terroir. This allows rainwater to seep into the layer of stones. It then collects in the gullies of the underlying terrain and forms a discontinuous water table. This provides the vines with a regular supply of water. The advantage of this is that it prevents summer drought. The range of grape varieties is very diverse, enabling us to offer numerous single-varietal wines.
Emmanuelle Delon and Luc Vignal have decided to formalise their commitment to organic farming by beginning the conversion of the entire estate. Beyond this commitment, Mas du Chêne remains dedicated to traditional farming methods:
