Huber-Verdereau, Biodynamic Burgundy Wines

Huber Verdereau

Thiébault Huber (Domaine Huber-Verdereau) is a passionate winemaker renowned for his hard work and his deep connection to the terroir. Starting out in 1990 with some three hectares of vines inherited from his grandfather, he now cultivates just under 10 hectares across prestigious appellations such as Volnay, Pommard, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Beaune. From the very beginning, he has been convinced that Burgundy’s richness lies in its terroirs; he is convinced of the need to ‘protect’ his vines by nurturing them naturally, allowing them to reveal the character of these famous terroirs.

Biodynamics & a natural approach without dogmatism

Thiébault Huber has been practising organic and biodynamic farming for over 10 years. But make no mistake, he is not one of those ‘ayatollahs steeped in certainty’ (Copyright Emmanuel Delmas). He simply believes that he must tend his vines in a non-interventionist manner. This is to bring the plant, the soil, the sky and man into harmony.
He therefore uses only compost in his vineyards and ploughs solely to maintain his soils. No synthetic products are used at the Huber-Verdereau estate. Only Bordeaux mixture and herbal infusions (dandelion, nettle, horsetail, birch, etc.). Work is carried out in accordance with the phases of the moon and certain planetary positions. Yields are strictly controlled. Wines are vinified using traditional methods.

Thiébault Huber tells you all about it

“My sole aim is to constantly improve the quality of my wines whilst respecting the environment as much as possible, and above all by preserving these magical terroirs of which we are merely the custodians.”
