Description
Julien Chopin’s Les Originelles Blanc de Blancs is a vintage champagne. It displays great purity, successfully combining richness, charm and elegance. The nose evokes damp chalk, acacia blossom and hints of lemon zest. On the palate, it is supple and fresh, with a creamy, well-integrated effervescence.
Tasting Notes
This 100% Chardonnay Champagne boasts a fairly fluid, deep pale yellow colour. A few luminous pale yellow highlights complete the visual impression. Fine, lively bubbles create a persistent head. The visual impression suggests a fresh and nuanced wine. The initial nose evokes scents of damp chalk, acacia blossom, lemon zest and fresh stone fruit. As it opens up, the bouquet evolves towards scents of hawthorn and wallflower, mingled with notes of green apple and sea salt. The initial impression on the palate is fresh, with a creamy, mellow effervescence. The elegant finish is marked by a return of chalky minerality. A mellow fruitiness and a final hint of sea salt blend with delicate bitter notes.
The Estate
The Chopin estate is located in the village of Monthelon (south of Épernay). It has been cultivating vines since the 18th century, but it was not until 1947 that the Julien CHOPIN brand was established. The vines are cultivated in accordance with Champagne traditions. The estate practises a system of integrated pest management to protect the environment.
