Description
The Maury from Domaine Le Clot de l'Origine is a fortified wine made from whole grapes, a true exemplar of its kind. First and foremost, it boasts a deep garnet colour with almost black highlights, dense and brilliant. The nose opens with a basketful of black fruits (wild blackberry, morello cherry, sloe), a touch of minty liquorice and fresh cocoa. The palate is smooth, without excessive sweetness, and supported by lively acidity. There is no sensation of heaviness or harshness, as the crispness of the fruit takes the upper hand. The finish is long and juicy, driven by the fruit with a light and delicious bitterness providing the perfect balance. A classic pairing, yet so effective, with blue cheese or a cocoa-based dessert.
