Description
The Valinière from Domaine Léon Barral is undoubtedly a great age-worthy wine from the Languedoc. Its intensity and aromatic complexity are remarkable. The palate evolves from intense black fruit to a schist-driven mineral finish, passing through floral notes (wilted rose), Provençal herbs (thyme), sweet spices, zingiber, and roasted notes … The attack on the palate is silky and full-bodied, with enveloping tannins and a slightly powdery texture. Power and depth are perfectly balanced by a refreshing crispness that gives the wine a very penetrating profile. A 7-hour leg of lamb, please!
