Description
Created in 2005, this cuvée Les 40èmes Rugissants is a tribute to the 40th anniversary of the cellar of the Vignerons d’Estézargues, and the accession to the communal appellation Côtes du Rhône Villages Signargues. Carbonic maceration deeply marks the style of this cuvée. The fruity (blackberry), chocolate and spicy (licorice, cinnamon) notes dominate and offer intensity and complexity. The elegance of the sensations also comes from this particular maceration: the tannic sweetness is immediately acquired, offering suavity and roundness.
In the vineyard, in the cellar
The cuvée de Côtes du Rhône Villages Signargues Les 40èmes Rugissants from the Vignerons d’Estézartgues in detail:
- Grape varieties: Grenache (50%), Carignan (25%), and Mourvèdre (25%). Low-yield Veilles vines grown in goblets
- Harvest: manual harvesting, in crates.
- Vinification: carbonic maceration (direct vatting, without destemming or crushing). During the 2 weeks of maceration, natural enzymatic changes take place at
the interior of the berries and will be at the origin of the cuvée’s unique expression. After pressing, drop and press juice are assembled for the completion of fermentation phases. - Breeding: After a classic 6-month aging in tanks, the bottling is spring without gluing or filtration.
The Vignerons d’Estézargues
There are around ten winegrowers in the Estézargues group, united under a ‘pilot’ cooperative winery, with each winegrower retaining their own production, identity and working methods. Founded in 1965, the winery is situated a stone’s throw from Lirac. The Vignerons d’Estézargues have committed to responsible viticulture and have been vinifying without additives for over twenty years, using spontaneous fermentation (indigenous yeasts), without fining or filtration. The wines beautifully reflect their terroir with varied expressions and exceptional value for money To find out more, visit the Vignerons d’Estézargues website
