Description
With its 80% of Syrah, this cuvée from the Domaine d’Andézon is an emblematic cuvée of the Côtes du Rhône Villages Signargues appellation within the Vignerons d’Estézargues cellar. Dominated in youth by aromas of grilled (coffee, mocha) at the opening, it then evolves on notes of ripe fruit. On the palate, the aging still present later develops spicy flavors of pepper and licorice. The flexibility of the structure is very clear, which ultimately leads to a remarkable tannic quality. Aging in bottles is recommended so that the wine and wood complete their interactions to offer harmony and fullness.
In the vineyard, in the cellar
The cuvée de Côtes du Rhône Villages Signargues Andézon (Vignerons d’Estézartgues) in detail:
- Terroir: To the selection of the most beautiful plots of Syrah from the Domaine located in the Côtes du Rhône Appellation area, Villages have been added since the middle of
2000s of the old plots of Mourvèdre. The pebbles of this terroir bring hardiness and generosity. - Grape varieties : Syrah (80%), Mourvèdre (20%)
- Vinification : long macerations (4 weeks), extraction by means of a daily reassembly accompanied by some light punching. The filling will be very early, at the outflow if possible to allow the malolactic fermentation to proceed in the barrels.
- Breeding: The aging is then of the order of 12 months in barrels of several wines.
- Bottling : without gluing or filtration.
The Vignerons d’Estézargues
There are around ten winegrowers in the Estézargues group, united under a ‘pilot’ cooperative winery, with each winegrower retaining their own production, identity and working methods. Founded in 1965, the winery is situated a stone’s throw from Lirac. The Vignerons d’Estézargues have committed to responsible viticulture and have been vinifying without additives for over twenty years, using spontaneous fermentation (indigenous yeasts), without fining or filtration.
