A tour of France’s most enjoyable wines

In its June 2021 issue, *La Revue du Vin de France* has recognised 12 estates as part of its round-up of wines for everyday enjoyment. We had previously selected these estates, and you can find them on our website.

Wines to enjoy and pique your curiosity. Showcasing young talent, brimming with unexpected delights and reflecting the most dynamic vineyards, this wide selection from all regions of France is an invitation to enjoy a convivial atmosphere at an affordable price. For a wonderful summer.

Thomas Rivier Régnié Tomix

Thomas Rivier, Régnié Tomix 2019

This is the first, highly promising vintage from this new winemaker. Having taken over 4 hectares of family vineyards, Thomas is committed to producing organic and natural wines. His Tomix cuvée, aged in concrete vats, is a prime example of a deliciously rich Gamay. A real cracker with just the right amount of depth.

Stéphane Aladame Montagny 1er Cru Découverte

Stéphane Aladame, Montagny 1er Cru 2019

A wine without artifice that truly showcases the appellation. Above all, this wine shines for its balance and elegance. The nose is quite chalky, the fruit is tangy, the palate is ripe, and the overall profile is rather fresh. Enjoyment guaranteed and excellent value for money for a Burgundy Premier Cru!

Nicolas Maillet Macon Verze Chemin Blanc

Nicolas Maillet, Mâcon Verzé Le Chemin Blanc 2018

A top-class wine for fine dining. It is made from the estate’s three oldest vineyards. The delicate, complex nose reveals aromas of white peaches, pears and acacia blossoms. On the palate, it is powerful, with lovely acidity and an impressive finish. It dazzles with its precise vinous character and ripe, taut structure.

Touraize Jura Arbois Chardonnay Les Voisines

La Touraize, Arbois Chardonnay Les Voisines 2018

A Chardonnay blend from three plots. The terroirs consist of gravel over marl, limestone and blue marl. Fermented and aged in large oak casks for two winters. We are captivated by the slightly peaty mineral purity of this very distinguished Chardonnay. The citrusy aroma profile is splendid, and the ageing is subtle.

La Touraize, Arbois Poulsard La Cabane 2019

A vintage of PlouPlou, destemmed by hand and fermented with whole berries. Aged in vats and casks. Perfect with all the smoked charcuterie of the Haut-Jura … and for all occasions spent in good company!

Touraize Jura Arbois Trousseau Les Corvées

La Touraize, Arbois Trousseau Les Corvées 2018

A single-vineyard Trousseau grown on gravel over marl. Cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by 30 days’ vatting. Aged in large oak casks for 18 months. Ideal with a beef steak with black pepper, a tuna steak, or duck breast.

La Dournie Saint-Chinian Tradition

La Dournie, Saint-Chinian 2018

A supple wine with southern influences that combines pleasure and character. The nose reveals aromas of garrigue, tapenade and nutmeg, though black fruits take centre stage. On the palate, it is supple and unpretentious, displaying lovely depth and finishing with notes of mocha and liquorice.

Chateau de Coulaine Chinon Tradition

Château de Coulaine, Chinon 2019

The nose offers notes of both red fruits (raspberry) and black fruits (blackberry). On the palate, it is fresh and supple, displaying a distinct fruitiness, silky tannins and perfect balance. A truly fine achievement for this lovely Chinon, which has eschewed oak to showcase its terroir.

Fouassier, Sancerre Les Romains 2018

A Sauvignon with a mineral and airy foundation, emblematic of its terroir. Balancing liveliness and depth, with a dense, full-bodied texture, the wine unfolds with salty and citrus notes. The finish is crisp and chalky, with just the right amount of tannin to offer excellent ageing potential.

Marie Berenice Bandol Red

Marie-Bérénice, Bandol 2019

A little gem that truly showcases the terroir of Bandol. Striking a balance between depth and finesse, Damien Roux has established a style of wine that is graceful and harmonious, and which will soon take its place among the appellation’s finest.

Bordenave Jurançon Souvenirs d'Enfance

Bordenave, Jurançon Sec ‘Childhood Memories’ 2019

An aromatic, charming and perfectly balanced wine. The nose offers a palette of lemon, citrus, grapefruit and passion fruit. Floral notes of broom and acacia blend into the bouquet. The palate is lively, in harmony with the aromas detected on the nose, and finishes with a touch of refined tension.

La Colombière Fronton Les Frontons Flingueurs

La Colombière, Les Frontons Flingueurs 2020

A wine that’s all about enjoyment and conviviality! A rich bouquet of red and black fruits, with hints of flowers and spices. On the palate, it’s round and rich, supported by smooth tannins. Perfect for sipping whenever you fancy a glass: I once knew a woman from Toulouse who used to drink it for breakfast.
